Shown below in 4 block stretch between Fulton and Williams, Division Avenue splits Grand Rapids between East and West. Due to its prime location in the heart of downtown, efforts have been made by both the city and private developers to gentrify the neighborhood via Arts and Culture, and new apartment living.

Not only "Avenue of the Arts," Division is also home to most of the city's services for people who are experiencing homelessness. This close-quartered adjacency creates a very charged situation between businesses, long-time residents, and new residents.
This image flattens the street to distort how we typically see the elevation, or front, of a city block. Through this distortion, we are able to become critical of it so as to analyze it under unfamiliar terms.
